This was my 1st time at Brixton Academy and when I arrived there at 2.30pm I found a long queue of faithful HIM fans already waiting there (some of
which I had been told had been there since the day before waiting.)
I was lucky enough to spend time queuing with some really cool people while waiting to go inside, so I’d like to give a shout out to all the awesome
people I met there and I hope to see you all in the near future!!!
We were finally let in at about 7.10pm and although it was a bit of a rush to get in when we did get inside myself and some of my mates positioned
ourselves at the 1st set of bars nearest to the stage, giving us a great view.
As I said before I’ve never been to Brixton before and it’s a pretty cool venue to go to, the atmosphere inside was great and there was a mix of old and
new fans alike.
When Anathema took the stage there were mixed reactions to them and personally I was one who was not that impressed with their performance.
However saying that they did obviously have some members of the audience who were clearly fairly loyal fans of theirs.
HIM finally took the stage at about 9.40pm and I must say I was particularly impressed with the layout of there stage show visually, which consisted
of the Heartagram on the background and gothic style candle holders and candles at various places onstage. Ville of course also had the all too familiar
table placed behind him for drinks and cigarettes.
The band sounded amazing and Ville was definitely in good voice and spirits, however he became more than a little pissed off on 2 occasions and made
his feelings very clear, when a certain technician had not fixed his mic up correctly and so had to come out and adjust it.
I was blown away by Linde who is an amazing guitarist and it is good to see his injury a few months ago has not caused him any problems, and the
audience showed full appreciation for his solos and playing.
Additional to the regular HIM fans there were some celebrities who had turned up and these were Bam Margera and Kojak, who Ville pointed out were
sat at the back seats of the balcony and in turn dedicated a song to them both.
This was my 3rd time seeing HIM play live and all I can say it is the best show I’ve seen them play so far, I definitely would say if you missed this gig
you missed out!
