NF: What is your favourite movie and what kind of movies do you like? Darin: It's very difficult to answer this question, I love most genres and kinds of films. I love especially Lynch's films. NF: Do you believe in ghosts and have you ever had a creepy experience? Darin: Yes, absolutely, when I was younger, one pretty blonde ghost came in my bedroom to ‘tell me some things’. Eternal experience, absolutely!! Rapid Questions: Dope Stars Inc / My Sixth Shadow? DSI! Maybeline / Urban Decay? Maybeline Nightmare Before Xmas / Corpse Bride? Nightmare before Xmas Interview with the Vampire (book) / Queen of the Damned (book)? Absolutely the first! Ducati / Harley Davidson? DUCATI (but I wanna Harley too!) Lemon / Vanilla? Lemon NF: If a fan were to bring you a care pack while you're on the road, what could you find inside that would make you smile? Darin: Cd's, books, cans of Red Bull or Du Demon beer! NF: How did you feel Hurricane Katrina was handled by the US Government? Darin: I think if there was a preventive action for sure, we wouldn’t have a big tragedy like this. |
NF: How did you get started in the music industry? Darin: Officially in 2000. Before that I played in many bands, (always guitar), but very amateur and friend shit stuff. NF: We know that you and Grace met first, how did you meet and how did you decide to start forming a band? Darin: We meet in Helsinki in 2002, we talked a lot about a new project, like an industrial band, with more of a Rock ‘N’ Roll attitude, a mixture of KMFDM and Motley Crue. The idea evolved and muted in a strange hybrid thanks to Victor and we introduced an EBM sound inside... NF: Where did you get your stage name from and what inspired you? Darin: Mrs Yevonde was an English artist in the 20th Century, I choose Darin because it sounds very ‘dandie’ and not a very popular name. NF: What is your favourite song to perform? Darin: Mmmm, that is a hard decision between Defcon 5, Plug ‘n’ Die and Rebel Riot. Right now I think it is Defcon 5! NF: How would you describe your music? Darin: A big industrial electro beat impact with the pure sane Rock ‘n’ Roll attitude. NF: Name one band you would like to tour with? Darin: KMFDM for sure! I love them! I meet them last week, I spent a lot of time talking and drinking with them, very uber cool guys! NF: What cities would you most like to perform in? Darin: L.A., Helsinki, New York, Stockholm and London. NF: Is it difficult living in Milan when the rest of your band lives in Rome?
Dope Stars Inc. Bassist- Darin Yevonde

Darin: Sometimes, but the passion for music has no limit! I know many musicians who live not in another city but in another continent! NF: We had a lot of fun at the Record Release party for Neuromance, what can Dope Stars Inc fans expect from a live show? Darin: One show where it is difficult to choose whether to head-bang or dance! For sure your asses don’t stay still! NF: How do you feel about the rapid success of DSI, going from an unsigned band to a signed band? Does it feel like it is going too slowly, or too fast? Darin: We had great response immediately from the first EP, and it all follows under this direction. I don’t know if it is too fast or too slow, I think it is natural development. NF: What are the band's musical influences and why? Darin: I love a lot of different kinds of music, from Dark Wave 80's, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Industrial and Electronic to Indie. I think I received big influences from The Cure, David Bowie, Bauhaus, New Order, Duran Duran, Joy Division, Japan, KMFDM, NIN to Rock ‘n’ Roll, Motley Crue, Rolling Stones, MC5, Hellacopters to Backyard Babies....

I love the bass importance and structure in most of New Wave bands and punk/dirty/crazy attitude to play typically from Rock ‘n’ Roll or punk. NF: What is the one CD you cannot live without while on the road? Darin: ‘Disintegration’ from The Cure. NF: What are your current favourite bands and / or songs? Darin: In this period, I’m very into Psychobilly music....Tiger Army! (Never Die!) NF: What is the weirdest / strangest thing you have been sent by a fan? Darin: One letter that had inside a lot of blonde hairs. NF: Now you are in a 'rock band' are all your schoolboy fantasies coming true? Darin: Ahahaha! I was a rock star too in school time! NF: Where do you see yourself in the next ten years and what would you have liked to achieve? Darin: On a big tour around the world, on a tour bus talking and laughing with the guys about our early days. NF: What piercings or tattoos do you have and are you planning to get any more? Darin: I have a labret piercing. I had one in my nose a long time ago. For now only one tattoo but my arms are ready to be raped very soon! NF: What do you do to relax? Darin: Read one good book.
