The gig that could have been Wednesday 13-Die Monster Die
|
We were raring to go and see some mates rock a local club on
Wednesday the 16th of August. We prepped by doing the rock
and roll round up and we all got together to make pretty. As we
prepared took shots and awaiting the call from Wednesday I got
out the list of things we needed to pick up. Beer for Racci, KFC
for Wednesday and A mirror for Eric ( ha)
Then the call came down. Bus trouble in the middle of nowhere!
So the ladies, Dizzy and my red self put our heads together. We
figured we could be super rock and roll heroes and tried to find
out where they boys were. We could jump in the car and head up
to pick up the stranded rock and rollers, but low and behold.. No
signal! We waited and found that unless we could pin point a
location there was nothing we could do. We were dead in the
water.
Well we didn’t let that ruin our night after all we were all dolled up and now with no where to go. So we headed to the said
venue and decided we would drink, and watch the openers.
First up was Spooky Deville. This band is a goth-rock-a-billy troupe down to the upright bass. They had the crowd a moving
and we were all singing along to the Misfits cover. I will say though they aren’t my scene they weren’t bad for a local act.
Then came the next act, Die Monster Die. Now these boys have a following, great songs and let Dizzy up on stage for a rather
odd cover of Cheap Trick. (not something you expect to see mind you, Blood covered mask wearing rock and roll demons
performing with Dizzy the next Sid Vicious performing Cheap Trick!)
All in all we made some friends, Dizzy and Ashley got the love from Die Monster Die, who dedicated a song to the trashy love
birds! All I can say is if the main act can’t make it, make sure that you still head out, you never know what will happen. Aside
from the over priced bad drinks we figured it could have been worse. Yeah the bands on stage could have been Yoko Ono, Ha-
ha.
So we apologise due to Bus trouble we weren't able to hang with our boys. But As soon as Wednesday comes back from
Europe, We will have to make it up to you!
This is Dami and I am signing off from Burts, Check out Die Monster Die. They are great fucking time!
