Red When did you decide to start your solo project? DRP At the start of 2005. Red What should Rachel Stamp fans expect to be different with your solo project? DRP My solo material is very different to Rachel Stamp. It's not rock n' roll music. It's very quiet and there aren't drums on many songs. Red Will there be any covers on the album? DRP Well first I'm releasing a six song ep 'David Ryder Prangley and the Witches' in October which is all original songs and then I'm releasing a full album 'Heart Full of Love Head Full of Poison' in January 2006 which will have a Jim Steinman song on. If he won't write me a new one I know which one I'm going to do. Red What song are you planning on doing by Jim Steinman if he does not write you a new one.( if you can't answer this one I understand.) DPR I'm keeping my Jim Steinman song a secret because I don't want people to come to shows expecting it... Red Do you have any plans to tour? DRP Yes. Red Will you be playing again in the London before November? I would love to see you again. I am really looking forward to your solo stuff, I absolutely loved what I have heard so far. DRP I really hope to be playing more shows before November. The album 'David Ryder Prangley and the Witches' will be out in October and the tracklist so far is: Falling from the Stars down to Earth, Tears of Black Glitter St. David of the Bleeding Heart, R is for Rocket, L is for Love Ass, David and the Sparking Girl. It's three quarters finished Red Your favourite song that you have written and why? DRP 'Tears of Black Glitter' because that song saved my life. Red How did 'Tears of Black Glitter' save your life? DPR 'Tears of Black Glitter' saved my life... I can't answer that question, but you heard the song so you will have some idea... Red Yes I understand. Name one band you would like to tour with? DRP Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds Red Your favourite venue to play? DRP London Mean Fiddler Red Tell me a tour story... DRP I met the ghost of Jim Bowie in Texas... Red You have a lot of experience with ghosts... So would you say that this is a good thing or a bad thing? DRP I think ghosts are there for anyone who wants to see or hear them... I plan on being a very active ghost... Ghosts are like people, you just have to be careful who you befriend... Red In your last interview with us, you mentioned that you had met the ghost of Jim Morrison in LA, where were you and what happened? DRP At the Key Club. I was looking in a mirror in the vaults under the club which used to be Gazzari's and Mr. Morrison just stepped up behind me and told me I was in the city of angels and that there was magic in the air if I wanted to leap up and take a fistful of it. I did. Did you see that show? Red No I didn't see that.. Now you must tell me more. I loved that venue. Gazzari's was one of my favourite places to go. DRP Our Key Club show was very important because LA sometimes forgets (like all major cities) that it has magic instilled in its fabric and a lot of my favourite artists who have deeply influenced my life are from LA(or at least made it their home), such as Jim Morrison, David Lee Roth, Inger Lorre, Little Richard, Tairrie B., and I wanted to take all the energy they have given me and give it back to the city and the people... In the words of Randy Newman, I love LA. Red What are the your musical influences and why? DRP Meat Loaf, Minnie Riperton, T.Rex, Prince... All beautiful music in an ugly world. Red What is the one CD you cannot live without while on the road? DRP Inger Lorre- Transcendental Medication Red Your current favourite bands and / or songs? DRP Nemo, Abba Red What is the weirdest / strangest thing you have been sent by a fan? DRP A finger. Red That is right, I have been dying to ask you, about the finger thing.. Where did you get this gift and what are your thoughts on it? DRP The finger thing was crazy, I still have it in my refrigerator... the nail is painted purple... some times if I can't make a decision about something I write my options on a large sheet of paper, place the finger in the middle and spin it around and the answer it points to is what i do... Red Now you are a 'rockstar' are all your schoolboy fantasies coming true? DRP No. My heart just breaks more every day. Red What is your favourite movie and what kind of movies do you like?
