Placebo U.S.A. First time Viewpoints

For those of you who have never been to a Placebo concert I highly recommend
it. Not being much of a music buff I was introduced to them only a few weeks
before the concert. A friend had been raving about them for well over a month
and convinced me that I just "HAD to go!" After listening to as much of their
music as she could put on my iPod, I decided she was right. This Brian boy had
cute eyes and an incredible voice and would likely be even better in person.

Being my first concert at Saltair I was pleasantly surprised with the venue itself.
It has the feel of an old barn and held enough people to make it cozy but not
crammed. I have been to concerts at the E center, but being this close to the
stage was something I had not yet experienced.  The opening band was
mediocre, so we stepped out for a quick smoke as I had been warned I would
not want to leave once Placebo came on stage.

That's an understatement. Rarely do I hear music that pulls me in so strongly
that my eyes are glued to the singer. I couldn't pull myself away from Brian's
voice and his bright piercing eyes. The way that he croons the word "Baby"
made me remember what good music is like.  Not to mention that it left me
with a slight crush on the cute boy with the eyeliner. There is very little "show"
to Brian. He doesn't need it. He could sit on stage and sing any song that came to
his mind and it would do the same thing to me as it did that night.

The concert made me a fan of Placebo, there is no doubting that.  I go on kicks now where the "Check this out" play list full of their
songs plays for hours and hours, over and over till I fall asleep with it going though my head. I love music that like that. It's rare, and
if you get the chance, take in one of their concerts. It's an awesome experience that you can only have to understand.

After hearing of Placebo only a few weeks before the concert, I wasn't
expecting to enjoy myself through a whole concert. I figured I'd like a few
songs and be done. Well, I was wrong. The show was quite enjoyable. I was
very impressed at the vocal ability of Brian and the "showmanship" of Stefan.
In fact, I think that Stefan was my favorite part of the show. If Placebo
comes again, I will definitely be going.

For half gay, I had expected more Gay dance. Commonly a vocalist with
such a unique vocal texture is a disappointment. Brian proved me wrong
from the very first time he opened his mouth. I can certainly appreciate
some one who can parlay such a vitriol so sweetly. Even thought "I know"
wasn't the song that finalized the show, it cemented my opinion that it was
a show worth seeing, and quite possibly even paying for the cd.
