| Interview with Robin Black By Jaxxi D and Lizzie |

NF: Hi how are you? RB Good thanks. NF: Who are your biggest influences? RB: Personally Billy Idol and Elvis and also like growing up like Motley Crue, but it’s a little bit of everything that you come across really. NF: That’s cool. It’s been roughly 2 years since you were last here, what have you been up to since then? RB: I've been training for fights, I’m a professional fighter, and like professional in martial arts so I’ve been training 5 hours a day, I’ve been fighting for about 2 years, I go and fight professionally in front of people and that is so different from this that I had to take a full year off from playing. And during that year my drummer and bass player moved on to do other things as you would expect someone to do and when it came to the time we returned to play again. Taking time off meant playing was going to be difficult and some of the fans would find new things but it was something I wanted to do with my life. NF: A busy boy then, What have you most been looking forward to on the UK tour? RB: Um just getting really drunk in England is really fun, everybody here drinks and stays up late and has plentiful sex and like I’ve been training and like eating a healthy diet and it’s a nice break from that. There’s a whole bunch of fans that love to party and the UK fans are so cool. NF: Are we? well while we’re looking at that, is there a difference between the UK fans and the fans from America? RB: Um in the UK when the fans discover something, it’s there and they love it and they love it for life, and like any band that has reached those fans and come back the fans are still really excited to see them and like in North America its very much media related and the fans are like sheep and follow it, so if you’re on television or radio at 1 point the fans will like whatever’s on the television or radio and if you’re not on there, then when you come back there’ll be less people, but in Britain you go back and there, there. NF: Yeah, um if you had to describe yourself or your music in 3 words what would they be? RB: Big Fucking Cock!! NF: (laughs)Which of the support bands have you most enjoyed touring with and do they bring a good vibe from the audience? RB: Well to be honest both Patchwork Grace and The Pleasures have been super fun to travel with, Patchwork Grace we love the band and we’ve had like Crip come up onstage and play guitar with us, and we just think they’re really cool, and then The Pleasures are really fun because they’re really funny guys and they’re really charming and interesting cos they have really different personalities and they’re a great band too and uh its funny us making German jokes and they’re starting to get into the swing of us making jokes and in general we’ ve had fun with them. NF: That’s wicked, Which of the 7 deadly sins best describes you and why? RB: Um what are we looking at here, Wrath and Gluttony that sorta thing? NF: Yeah, RB: What are the 7 deadly sins? NF: ( tells Robin what the 7 sins are) RB: Ok well I’d have to go with lust, I’m all about lust. NF: Has anything funny or embarrassing happened on the tour to anyone in particular? RB: That’s a bit like every night actually, oh yeah Starboy got his foot tangled up onstage and did this crazy legendary smash fall and smashed into his Star face, and we watched it over and over and over again on video. NF: That’s pretty cool, RB: I did make a few snide comments about Germans and their Germany Jews and that they gas people onstage, and people didn’t know what to make of that especially the poor Germans, and they didn’t understand our sense of humour at 1st. NF: I do love that when you make a joke and someone just doesn’t get it, that really cool RB: We did stop these girls that looked like CC Deville who had just come out a washing machine. NF: Is there a venue you are really looking forward to playing? RB: This 1, it looks awesome tonight, I mean venues in Britain are great they always have great sound systems, and are always full of crazy girls which are drunk. NF: Is that all we do? RB: Yeah, and yeah British people drink and fuck, and that’s everything, and yeah that’s pretty much it. NF: Do you believe in ghosts and do you have any ghostly experiences you can tell us about? RB: Um, I really don’t know if I do believe in ghosts, although I’ve seen Starboy become possessed a few times, so I don’t know.. NF: Is there anything you do before you go onstage, like rituals? RB: I pace, I always pace, I hum, I pace and I hum, and I do some kicks, a couple of high kicks and stretches, suck down a couple of beers then I’m off. NF: When you come to the UK is there a particular place you like to visit? RB: I do love London, really love London NF: If you could play any venue with any band who would it be? RB: I think I’d play this place with The Pleasures and Patchwork Grace, (smiles and looks at the band members sitting in room with him from other bands) NF: What is the best thing about going on tour? RB: The best thing about going on tour is living like a teenage boy for weeks and longer at a time and getting drunk in the mean time and chasing girls. SB: ‘Don’t believe anything this man tells you’ RB: That’s right, ask Starboy the next question NF: The next question? RB: Yeah NF: Well anyone can answer it really, have you got any plans for Halloween this year if so what are they? SB: Ah don’t know yet, RB: That’s right, ask Starboy the next question NF: You haven’t planned that far ahead yet, SB: No, RB: I usually don’t know what I’m gonna do tomorrow NF: Do you have any plans for tomorrow yet? RB: We’re gonna get in the van and go to Croydon and rock out there, um Halloween is fun though I like it, I generally like to dress up as a women if possible, so Halloween is a good opportunity to do that, I think all people should cross dress. NF: Guys look great in drag though, and they get so nervous about doing it all the time. What can the fans expect to you in the near future? RB: I have some professional fights in Canada, and I’ll be working on a television show there, and I wana make a new record for the end of this year. NF: Can you leave us with a random final thought.. RB: The Druids invented Stone Henge as a place for spaceships to land and as a tool to be able to tell what your girlfriends talking about. NF: Thank you so much RB: You're welcome |
