The Dear Hunter - Act II: The Meaning of & All Things Regarding Ms. Leading - by Steph
|
Were I to play this CD for you and then describe the vocalist, you probably wouldn't believe me. When I had the opportunity
to meet vocalist, Casey, after a gig in Salt Lake City, UT, I was completely blown away with his range and vocal style. It's
an album with its own sound and fairly hard to describe, yet beautifully conducted. To try to grasp at a comparison, I would
say their influences were Muse, Ours, 30 Seconds to Mars; even Casey's melodies strike me as similar to Jared Leto's, but
then I'm a sucker for the sweet soft sounds mixed with passionate emphasis.
I've yet to be truly "stumped" when trying to rate or review an album, but Act II has done just that. It's just a brilliant album,
really. Since it's purchase, it's been worn through my iPod quite contentedly since. Perfect for any mood, at work, on the
road... it's well-rounded with instrumental pieces, jaunty melodies, and poignant lyrics that provoke curiosity into the story
behind the words.
Truly, the more and more I hear from this band, the more I want to add to my collection. If you haven't heard it yet, or
aren't able to find it through your local retailer, put your iTunes Christmas gift card to good use and make some downloads
happen. This is an album you won't want to miss and the perfect addition to any eclectic playlist.
