| Trevor, Violet Heartbreak Written by Jaxxi D |

| NF/ Hey how are you? T/ Brooding a bit but that is good for the music. cold weather, snow and sad thoughts tend to bring it all together. I hate winter but it has always been when I write my best stuff. NF/ How would you describe your music to people who don’t know you? T/ To me it sounds like violet heartbreak which is me. I don't feel you can really turn any of my music on and go, "oh yes, this sounds just like band A or band B". there are a lot of bands out there that are trying so hard to sound like their favorite artists and I always loved and respected bands and artists that sounded like themselves. We already have a nine inch nails and a tool or whatever band you love. If I had to describe my music without being a pretentious artist I would say that it is heavy at times but mostly pretty mellow. Someone once said it sounded like something out of a dream and I really liked that. I struggle with this question a lot and I believe a lot of other artists do to. When I wrote slipping through the cracks I really wanted to make just a really good rock album and I feel that I did that. A close friend once said that it is the artist’s job to create, and the audience’s job to label it. I think that if you spend too much time trying to label what you are doing you can loose focus on what is truly important: writing the best damn music you can. NF/ Who are your influences? T/ Anything from books to films to artwork. Really anything that can strike an emotion out of me. As far as music goes I am really into tom waits, the cure, nine inch nails, sparklehorse, Johnny Cash, Nirvana, Skinny Puppy, Sigur Ros, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Nick Cave, Dimmu Borgir, Type O Negative, Hendrix, Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Bowie and the Doors. I mean everything from orchestral to rock. I could name a whole bunch more and I am sure I will kick myself over a few I didn't name just now but I could go on forever. I just love music in general, especially when it has passion. NF/ Which of the seven deadly sins would you say your are? few albums I have been listening to the most at the moment. One album would be the Cure's disintegration. The album is a classic and I grew up on it. It is definitely an album that is impossible for me to get tired of. You can just immerse yourself in the beauty and sadness of the whole album and it is just beautiful. Another album is Bruce Springsteens the ghost of Tom Joad. Beautiful songwriting, very artsy and just plain old depressing. It shows the true power of what an acoustic guitar and a brilliant songwriter can do. Guns and Roses appetite for destruction. This was my first real rock album that I got in first or second grade and I love turning that album on and just blasting it as loud as I can. Nirvana unplugged. I can't think of any live album that is more powerful than this. If where did you sleep last night doesn't put shivers down your spine I don't know what will. Lastly I have been listening to a ton of tom waits mule variations. The album sounds like whiskey tastes and brings the tears you need to fill that fucking glass back up. I adore that album!!! NF/ Have you any plans to visit the UK to do any shows? T/ I have always dreamed of touring Europe. If I can find a descent label sometime in the near future I will definitely be playing some shows in the uk. I think Europe is much more accepting of different styles of music than the states are. I hope to tour Europe more than the U.S. so I hope to see you at a few. NF/ Do you believe in ghosts and if so have you had any ghostly experiences you can tell us about? T/ I am really torn about weather or not I believe in ghosts. I saw them when I was young and living in my grandpa's house however who knows if that was just my active imagination. I want to believe in ghosts since the concepts and the reasons behind ghosts fascinate me. I have been to a few haunted places and an old satanic ritual park but I haven't recently had anything more that just a creepy feeling. NF/ What can your fans expect from you in the New Year? T/ A new album and music that will make the last album seem like nothing. Violet heartbreak is just beginning and I have already started an album and a half of new material. Maybe some will make it or maybe none will but for once a new album will not be a disappointment. There will also be some more music videos and some live shows and some b-sides and live bootlegs/videos being released. I never want my fans to get bored and I don't want to get bored either!!! NF/ Thanks very much for your time. T/ Thank you |
